Don Ohlson has been an artist “at heart” for most of his life. After retiring from a 32 year career with The Boeing Company he has been set free to make art full time!

Working in watercolor, acrylic and mixed media, Don also experiments with unique techniques, both photographing and editing his own work.   His style is very broad-based, and covers abstract, semi-representational, and realistic subjects.
Don is always on the lookout for unusual ways to apply paint, or to create inovative digital imagery. He finds it rewarding to allow his artwork to take unexpected turns, usually beginning with a rough idea, but always open to changing direction as he works. The theme in his artwork? Experiment!

For Don, it’s always about the color. His self study of color has been extensive and he has designed and developed his own unique tools that assist in the choosing and combining of colors for his artwork.

Primarily self-taught, Don has also taken several workshops from artists including Karlyn Holman, Jennifer Bowman and
Patricia Seggebruch.

Don and his wife, Dori, moved to Camano Island in 2006. He is finding the beauty of the island to be a wonderful source of inspiration for creating art in his new studio.
